Applying for a Card

Who can apply for a Jetstar MasterCard®?

You're eligible to apply if you're an Australian resident, 18 years of age or over, earning a minimum taxable income of $30,000 per annum, with an Australian mailing address.

How do I apply for a Jetstar MasterCard or Platinum MasterCard?

You can apply online at www.jetstar.com/cards, or download and return this form and fax the form to 1300 658 695.

Can I apply if my previous address is an overseas address?

We require your current residential address to be an Australian address. Please provide details of this overseas address in the previous residential address fields on your Application Form.

What is an 'additional cardholder'?

An additional cardholder is any other person you authorise to make transactions on your account. They will be issued with their own Card and all transactions will be charged to your account. Jetstar MasterCard cardholders can have up to four additional cardholders for an annual fee of $9 each. Jetstar Platinum MasterCard cardholders can have up to four additional cardholders for an annual fee of $39 each.

Can I get a Card for my partner and children?

If they are 18 years of age or over, your partner or child may be eligible to apply for their own Card.

Alternatively, you can authorise your partner or a child of 16 years of age or over to be an additional cardholder on your account. Please provide us with their details on the 'additional cardholder' section of your Application Form or complete an Additional Cardholder Request Form.

I'm a franchisee – what do I put as my employment status?

Please select ‘self employed.

How long does it take before I get my Card?

We make every effort to process applications within 10 working days. To assist us in processing your application quickly, please complete your Application Form in full.

How is my credit limit determined?

Your credit limit is determined by the information provided on the Application Form and in accordance with our credit policy. You will be notified of your credit limit if your application is approved.

Can I find out my limit before I apply?

No. You will be notified of this limit if your application is approved.

Can I apply for a higher credit limit?

After 6 months you can apply to have your credit limit increased. Additionally, we regularly review credit limits and will contact you to offer you an increased credit limit if you are eligible.

What is the annual fee for the Card?

The annual fee is currently $49 for the primary Jetstar MasterCard and $9 for each additional card, and $149 for the primary Jetstar Platinum MasterCard and $39 for each additional card.

How and when will the annual fee be charged?

The annual fee is charged when you activate your Card, then annually on the anniversary of the opening of your account.

What is the interest rate?
Jetstar MasterCard 10.99%pa for purchases and 19.99%pa for cash advances.
Jetstar Platinum MasterCard 17.99%pa for purchases and 19.99%p.a. for cash advances.
Will this current interest rate change?

Macquarie Bank reserves the right to change our interest rates. You will be notified in advance via your statement and national newspapers.

How is interest calculated?

Interest is calculated based on the balance you have outstanding on each day of the statement cycle. The interest rate, also known as the ‘Annual Percentage Rate (APR) is included on the front page of every statement you receive. Interest is calculated based on the daily rate of interest (the APR divided by the number of days per year). This rate is also included on each monthly statement and is effective for interest calculations in that statement period. Our guide to understanding interest can be downloaded here.

What is the number of interest free days?

Up to 55 days interest free on purchases.

Where can I use my Jetstar MasterCard or Jetstar Platinum MasterCard?

You can use your Card wherever MasterCard is accepted. MasterCard cards are accepted worldwide at over 29 million locations, and over 1.5 million ATMs and in 210 countries.

Can I use my Card to make purchases online?

Yes, your Card can be used to make purchases online. As an added feature, both Cards come with MasterCards Zero Liability promise on all unauthorised or fraudulent internet purchases. Please refer to www.mastercard.com.au for further details.

Can I use my Jetstar MasterCard at ATMs?

Yes, by entering your ATM PIN you can withdraw cash at any ATM where the MasterCard, Maestro or Cirrus symbol is displayed (over 1.5 million ATMs worldwide).

Can I use my Card overseas?

Yes, you can use your Card overseas wherever MasterCard is accepted.

What is the relationship between Jetstar and Macquarie Bank?

Card Services is a division of Macquarie Bank Limited ABN 46 008 583 542 which provides and administers credit and is the issuer of the Jetstar MasterCard and Jetstar Platinum MasterCard. Jetstar Airways Pty Ltd ABN 33 069 720 243 is the redemption partner of the Jetstar MasterCard and the Jetstar Platinum MasterCard.

What is MasterCard PayPass™ technology?

Contactless payment technology removes the need for a signature, PIN or loose change and provides you with greater speed and minimum hassle when making payments. You can use your card anywhere you see the MasterCard PayPass™ symbol.

How much faster is a PayPass transaction?

Research indicates MasterCard PayPass transactions are significantly faster than a normal credit card transaction.

Are there limits to the size and number of transactions that can be conducted using this contactless technology?

The maximum limit may alter at different merchants. Generally, a signature or PIN will be required if the transaction value is over $35. This limit may be subject to change.

Is there an increased risk of fraud as no signature is required?

The technology offers you greater security as the card never leaves your hands when making a transaction, thereby reducing the opportunity for your card details to be copied or compromised.

What passwords do I need to access areas of my account?

Access Code and your temporary password – Used to access MyCards. Please call us on 1300 150 100 and we can re-supply your Access Code and re-issue your temporary password.

RETAIL/ATM PIN - used to verify point-of-sale purchases, or to obtain a cash advance from an ATM. Please call us on 1300 150 100 and we will be able to resend your ATM PIN to you.

Can I choose my PIN?

Unfortunately, you are not able to change your ATM PIN from the one that has been issued with your Card

What do I do if I have forgotten my PIN?

Please call us on 1300 150 100 and we will be able to resend your ATM PIN to you

I have forgotten my password to MyCards.

Please call us on 1300 150 100 and we will be able to reset your internet password. This will then be posted to you within 5 working days.

SECURITY

What is the chip on my Card?

Every Jetstar Credit Card features an embedded security microchip. This innovative technology makes your Card much more secure than standard cards, which only have the magnetic strip on the back. The chip adds an extra layer of security, making it very difficult to copy your Card details.

What if my Card is lost or stolen?

If your Card is lost or stolen, please contact us immediately on 1300 150 100, or if you are calling from overseas, +61 2 8232 4677, available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

BALANCE TRANSFERS

What is a balance transfer?

This is a request to transfer part, or all of your outstanding balance from another credit card to your Jetstar Credit Card account. When you request a balance transfer we will BPAY funds to your nominated Card account and debit this to your Jetstar Card account. Please allow up to 5 business days for balance transfer requests to be processed.

What is the limit for balance transfers?

The limit on balance transfers is equal to the credit limit on your Card, less $500. Should the amount of your balance transfer exceed your limit for balance transfers, we will contact you before processing your request.

When can I request a balance transfer?

You can request a balance transfer when you apply for a Card, or anytime after by completing a balance transfer request online through MyCards.

ACCOUNT MAINTENANCE

How do I get a cash advance?

You can get a cash advance from your Card at any ATM that accepts MasterCard, by using your Card and your ATM PIN. Alternatively, you can also request a cash advance over the counter at any bank that accepts MasterCard, using your Card and providing your signature and photo identification.

What is the limit for a cash advance?

The daily limit for cash advances is $1,000 via an ATM and $5,000 over the counter at a bank.

How often will I receive a statement?

You will receive a credit card statement monthly if you have transactions during that period.

Can I change my bill due date?

Yes, you can nominate the date that your monthly bill is due by contacting us on 1300 150 100. Please select a date between the 1st and the 28th.

Can I receive my statement by email?

Yes, please log onto MyCards or contact us on 1300 150 100 to request email statements. This will also save you the monthly $2.50 fee for paper statements.

Will my additional cardholder also get a statement?

No, only the primary cardholder receives a monthly statement. This statement will contain details of any transactions made by the primary cardholder and any additional cardholders.

Does the additional cardholder have the same level of access as the primary cardholder?

Any additional cardholders have the same access to information about your account. However, they are restricted from making any changes (such as change of address) to your account.

How do I pay my account?

Direct Debit – This automatically pays your Card account every month by the due date, from the bank account of your choice. With this flexible option you can choose to pay any amount equal to, or greater than the minimum payment due. To request a direct debit please complete this form.

BPAY® – This can be done through phone or internet banking (directly from your bank). Your reference number is your 16-digit Card number (which is the same as the account number printed on your statement) and the biller code is 423343.

Post – Please ensure you enclose your completed payment slip from your monthly statement and mail with your cheque (no notes or coins accepted) to GPO Box 4690 Sydney NSW 2001. Please make the cheque payable to Card Services and include your account number.

Post Office – For payment made at any other Australia Post using cash or EFTPOS, please allow 48 hours for the payment to reach your account. When paying by cheque at any Australia Post office please allow six business days for the cheque to clear. However, funds will be considered received the day the cheque is deposited. A $2 over the counter transaction fee is applicable to all cash, EFTPOS or cheque payments made at Australia Post.

What is an outstanding authorisation?

This is when the estimated value of a purchase – for example, a hotel stay, that has been held for a period of days to allow the merchant to process the transaction. An outstanding authorisation reduces the cardholder's available credit, but not the balance owing on the Card.

Can I authorise a third party to access information about my account?

Yes, you can authorise a third party to access information about your account by completing an Authorised Representative Request Form. This form can be downloaded via MyCards.

How can I order a replacement credit card?

If your Card is damaged for any reason, please call us on 1300 150 100 and we will be able to organise a replacement Card to be sent to you within 7 business days.

What is my Access Code?

This is your Access Code that identifies you as a Card Services customer and is used to access our self service banking facilities.

Can I see details of my credit card account online?

You are able to view your balance, transactions, payment information and request electronic statements, etc., at www.jetstar.com/cards, our online banking website.

Can I make future dated payments via BPAY®?

Unfortunately, you are currently unable to make future dated payments using internet or telephone banking.

ADDITIONAL CARDHOLDER

What is an ‘additional cardholder?

JETSTAR DOLLARS PROGRAM

How do I accrue Jetstar Dollars?

Jetstar MasterCard

You will accrue 1 Jetstar Dollar for every $100 you spend on eligible purchases using your Jetstar MasterCard.

Jetstar Platinum MasterCard

You will accrue 2 Jetstar Dollars for every $100 you spend on eligible purchases using your Jetstar Platinum MasterCard.

Jetstar Dollars do not accrue on:

  • Cash Advances
  • Government charges
  • Interest and other bank fees and charges (including any GST payable on any of these)
  • Special Promotions such as balance transfers
  • Transactions made in operating a business or in connection with business expenditure
  • Transactions that are reversed (refunds)
  • Foreign exchange purchases
  • Gambling chip purchases
  • Payments for credit card protection insurance
  • How do I redeem my Jetstar Dollars as Jetstar Flight Vouchers?

    If you are a Jetstar MasterCard account holder, you will automatically qualify for a $100 Jetstar Flight Voucher when your Jetstar Dollar balance reaches 100 Jetstar Dollars.

    If you are a Jetstar Platinum MasterCard account holder, you will automatically qualify for a $200 Jetstar Flight Voucher when your Jetstar Dollars balance reaches 200 Jetstar Dollars.

    Jetstar will email you your Jetstar Flight Vouchers automatically once you have qualified for a $100 flight voucher for Jetstar MasterCard account holders or a $200 flight voucher for Jetstar Platinum MasterCard account holders. Your Jetstar Flight Vouchers will be emailed to the last email address you have provided to us. Please ensure that you provide us with a valid email address at all times.

    Before the Jetstar Flight Vouchers are issued automatically by Jetstar, you can also request an early redemption of your Jetstar Dollars for a $25 Jetstar Flight Voucher in increments of 25 Jetstar Dollars by calling 1300 150 100, provided your Jetstar Dollars balance is at least 25 Jetstar Dollars. You cannot redeem your Jetstar Dollars where your Jetstar Dollars balance is less than 25 Jetstar Dollars. Jetstar Dollars cannot be deferred for the purpose of gaining a higher value to use at a later date. Please allow up to five working days to process your Jetstar Flight Voucher.

    How do I update my email address?

    You can update your email address in accordance with clause 3 of the Conditions of Use, namely:

  • in writing;
  • over the telephone by calling 1300 150 100.
  • You must have a valid email address, to redeem your Jetstar Dollars.

    What can I use my Jetstar Flight Vouchers for?

    Your Jetstar Flight Voucher may be used to make a booking up to the value stated for Jetstar flights only. This includes Jetstar fares, taxes, fees and other charges associated with normal Jetstar internet or telephone reservations flight bookings. Your Jetstar Flight Voucher cannot be used to book other travel-related goods and services including accommodation, car hire or activities.

    How do I use my Jetstar Flight Vouchers?

    Visit Jetstar.com to search and select your flights. When you reach the payment section click on the Voucher tab and complete the details. If the amount due is greater than the voucher value you will be required to pay the difference by either credit card (a credit card fee applies unless you use your Jetstar MasterCard or Jetstar Platinum MasterCard) or direct deposit. Jetstar Flight Vouchers must be used in a single transaction so if the amount due is less than the flight voucher value you will forfeit the balance. A credit will not be issued. Jetstar Flight Vouchers can also be used for flights booked through Jetstar on 131 538.

    All travel is subject to availability at the time of booking, the fares quoted at the time of booking and Jetstars Conditions of Carriage. The standard JetSaver Light, JetSaver, JetFlex or StarClass fare rules apply according to the fare type you selected when booking. Unless otherwise stated airfares are non-refundable and name changes are not permitted. See Jetstar.com for further details.

    Who can use my Jetstar flight vouchers?

    Jetstar Flight Vouchers will be issued in your name, which means only you may use your Jetstar Flight Voucher to book flights. You do not have to be one of the passengers travelling, but you must be named as the contact in the booking and the passenger must be related to you. A person ‘related to you’ means any person you can demonstrate, to our reasonable satisfaction, as being related to you in any of the ways described below:

    • Domestic Partner/De Facto
    • Child, including Foster and Step-child
    • Brother/Sister
    • Half Brother/Sister
    • Grandparent
    • Grandchild
    • Son/Daughter-in-law

    • Your right to use Jetstar Flight Vouchers cannot be transferred to another person including any Additional Cardholders.
    How long do I have to use my Jetstar Flight Vouchers?

    Travel must be booked within 3 months from the date your Jetstar Flight Voucher is issued and travel must be commenced and completed within 6 months from the date your Jetstar Flight Voucher was issued. The issue date appears on the top right hand corner of the voucher. Booking dates and travel dates will be strictly applied.

    How do I claim missing Jetstar Dollars?

    For matters regarding missing Jetstar Dollars call Card Services on 1300 150 100. Note that disputes regarding missing Jetstar Dollars will not be accepted more than three (3) months after the date of the relevant Transaction.

    Do my Jetstar Dollars expire?

    Jetstar Dollars do not expire provided your Account is open. If you close your Account or die, your participation in Jetstar Dollars is automatically cancelled and all Jetstar Dollars accrued are forfeited.

    Your Jetstar Dollars may not be transferred to another person for any reason. We may discontinue Jetstar Dollars at any time at our discretion. We will notify you as soon as practicable of the termination and you will have 30 days from the date of termination to redeem your Jetstar Dollars.

    How do I keep track of my Jetstar Dollars?

    You can view your Jetstar Dollar balance by logging into MyCards.

    We may adjust your total Jetstar Dollars (backdating the adjustment if necessary) if Jetstar Dollars have been incorrectly credited or debited for any reason.

    Is there a limit to the amount of Jetstar Dollars that I can earn?

    Jetstar Dollars can be earned up to a maximum spend of:

  • $50,000 per year on the Jetstar MasterCard and;
  • $100,000 per year on the Jetstar Platinum MasterCard.
  • When will Jetstar Dollars not be awarded?

    If we are aware that you are in breach of your Credit Card – Conditions of Use booklet or your Account is suspended or cancelled, your available Jetstar Dollars balance will show as zero (0). You will continue to accrue Jetstar Dollars on your account during this period.

    We reserve the right to suspend or exclude you from Jetstar Dollars if:

    1. You are in breach of your Credit Card – Conditions of Use booklet or these Jetstar Dollars Terms and Conditions; or
    2. Your Account is suspended, cancelled or terminated.
