The Jetstar Carbon Offset Program is just one way in which Jetstar is managing the environmental impact of its operations. Jetstar currently operates a fleet of modern fuel-efficient A320 and A330 aircraft, and has established a fuel efficiency program to continuously monitor fuel consumption and identify opportunities for improving efficiency; leading to reduced fuel consumption and greenhouse gas emissions.
As part of its business strategy, Jetstar is also making a multi-billion dollar investment in new aircraft to take advantage of the latest in airframe and engine designs. The B787, which Jetstar is set to commence taking delivery of from August 2008, is expected to deliver a 25 percent saving on fuel consumption compared to similarly sized aircraft.
Jetstar is focussed on the implementation of several conservation strategies relating to energy, water, and waste usage across all facets of its operation, and as an ongoing commitment to the environment, will also purchase carbon offsets on behalf of all staff travelling on company business.
