Changi Airline Awards 2012
- Jetstar Group honoured by Changi Airport for growth of its Singapore hub
- Wins three Changi Airline Awards – including ‘Partner of the Year’
- Awards support Jetstar’s position as leading LCC in Singapore
Jetstar has bolstered its standing as Singapore’s leading low fares carrier by winning the ‘Partner of the Year’ award at the Changi Airlines Awards 2012.
The ‘Partner of the Year’ award recognises the Jetstar Group’s performance in innovation, growth and connectivity.
CEO of the Jetstar Group, Mr Bruce Buchanan said the award reflected the Group’s hard work in building its largest Asian hub in Singapore.
“Good airlines require good partners like CAG who understand the nature of our low cost model and how to work together to maximise opportunities to build growth,” Mr Buchanan said.
“In Singapore, our success has been driven by the support of innovations such as first time long haul travel, interline partnerships and new routes to growing Chinese cities.”
The Jetstar Group is currently the largest and most profitable LCC in Singapore* and now flies from Singapore to 29 cities across 13 countries.
Carrying 2.8 million passengers in and out of Singapore in 2011, Jetstar has grown capacity year on year by about 50 per cent for the last two years.
“Sustained growth out of our Singapore hub is vital as we build connections to our upcoming networks in Japan and Hong Kong,**” Mr Buchanan said.
“We look forward to continuing our growth momentum with another exciting year ahead for our Singapore hub as we prepare for the arrival of the future of our long haul fleet, the Boeing 787 in 2013.”
In addition to ‘Partner of the Year’, Jetstar Asia won ‘The Top 10 Airlines by Passenger Carriage’ and Jetstar Airways (which operates international flights between Australia and Singapore) won ‘Top 5 Airlines by Absolute Growth in Cargo Carriage’.
