Checked baggage

Add baggage at the time of booking and save

If you do need to travel with more than just carry-on Baggage, for a fee you’re able to add and customise the amount of checked baggage you require, when you make your booking. You can even choose the amount of checked baggage for each individual passenger and have different baggage amounts for each flight. This means you only purchase the baggage you need.

For Starter fares (including Plus or Max bundles), you’re able to select from 15kg to 40kg of checked baggage in 5kg increments, per passenger, per flight. The cheapest way to purchase checked baggage allowance is at the time of booking. Adding checked baggage after booking costs more at the airport, over the phone and through My Jetstar online.

Our Business Class fare includes 20kg of carry-on baggage and 30kg of checked baggage. If you require more, you can purchase up to 40kg (10kg extra) of checked baggage per passenger, per flight, when you make your booking.

Excess baggage charges after your initial booking

The cheapest way to purchase a checked baggage allowance is at the time of booking. If you need to add baggage after you have made your booking, this can be added for a higher fee through My Jetstar online or by calling Jetstar Reservations.

Excess baggage charges at the airport

If you have an Economy Starter fare (including Plus and Max bundles) and you have not purchased a checked baggage allowance and you have a bag to check in, you will need to upgrade to a 15kg at the airport. The following fees apply for a 15kg checked baggage allowance per passenger. Please be aware that further per kilo charges will apply to baggage in excess of 15kg and we can’t guarantee there will be enough space to carry extra baggage on your flight.
