Infants < 2 years
For the purposes of travel on Jetstar, an infant is defined as being not yet 2 years of age at the time of travel.
Infants who do not occupy a seat at the time of flying will travel for free on Domestic and Trans-Tasman services (flights between Australia and New Zealand. An infant fee will apply for all other services. Infants who have turned two will be required to purchase a fare for the child.
ID requirements
For infants not occupying their own seat, proof of age (under 2) may be required, such as a birth certificate or passport (required for international travel). If you do not provide an acceptable form of identification upon request at check-in, then you may not be allowed to travel.
Baggage allowance
Infants not occupying a seat are not entitled to a carry-on or checked baggage allowance. However, infant food and items required for infant use in-flight may be carried in addition to the accompanying adult's Carry-on Baggage allowance and baby accessories such as a stroller and porta cot may be checked-in free of charge in addition to the accompanying adult's Checked Baggage allowance.
Accompanying passenger requirement
All infants must travel with a guardian who is 15 years of age or over or with a parent.
Infants less than seven (7) days old
For Jetstar (JQ), Jetstar Asia (3K) and Valuair (VF) operated flights, a Jetstar Travel Clearance form must be completed in order for infants less then seven (7) days old to travel. No infant less than 7 days old may travel with Jetstar Pacific.
