One of the nicest ways of getting around Cairns is by bicycle, and there are several bike hire places that'll fix you up. The city also has a good bus system: Sunbus (www.sunbus.com.au) runs regular services in and around town, which leave from the Lake St Transit Centre. Cairns is also the bus hub for Far North Queensland.
