Thing To Do & See

Blue Elephant Cooking School

Bangkok’s most chi-chi Thai cooking school offers two lessons a day (8.45am to 12.30pm and 1.15pm to 5pm) Monday to Saturday. The morning class squeezes in a visit to a local market, while the afternoon session includes a detailed introduction to Thai ingredients.

Banyan Tree Spa

This hotel spa delivers modern elegance and world-class pampering. The womblike spa rooms look out over a silent and peaceful vision of Bangkok from on high. Thai, Swedish and Balinese massages, body scrubs using aromatic oils and herbs with medicinal properties, and beauty treatments comprise the spa’s offerings. ‘Spa vacation’ packages include accommodation.

Asia Voyages`

Asia Voyages operates three stout but elegant converted rice barges called Mekhala, delivering passengers to Ayuthaya and Bang Pa-In as part of a two-day trip that includes an overnight stay on the boat with a candlelight dinner at the foot of a picturesque temple. Downriver trips are cheaper (from 6150B).
