On the Esplanade, the Lagoon is popular with kids and is patrolled all day. There are ‘Tiny Tacker Tuesdays’ every third Tuesday of the month at the Cairns Regional Gallery as well as theme-based workshops for children during the school holidays.

The unrelenting surge of visitors to the
Reef off Port Douglas has impacted on its general condition, and although you'll

Ever dreamed of sailing on a yacht? Well, the benevolent folk
at the Port Douglas Yacht Club run sunset sessions each Wednesday, a fun and free
way to get a taste boating life on a 1½-hour tour. Register at the Yacht Club at
16:00; boats leave at 17:00 (BYO drinks).
