Story Bridge Adventure Climb

Fast becoming a Brisbane must-do, the bridge climb offers breathtaking views of the city. The 2½-hour climb takes place on the southern half of the bridge and reaches heights of 80m above the Brisbane River.

Learn how to make and paint your own didgeridoo or boomerang at Indidge-n-Arts. You can also learn traditional weaving and jewellery- making techniques and the venue has an art gallery with proceeds of sales returning directly to the artists. It also holds Aboriginal cultural tours to Mt Coot-tha where you can have a go at throwing a boomerang.

Merthyr Bowls Club

Lawn bowls has shed its traditional image of cucumber sandwiches and ancient men in white suits to become a popular weekend activity for Brisbane's young and old. Leading the charge is the Merthyr Bowls Club, on the banks of the Brisbane River. It's packed at weekends with punters trying to bowl in a straight line after a snag and a stubby, courtesy of the cheap Sunday arvo barbecue.
