Arriving at Gold Coast Airport (OOL)

After your Sydney flight arrives, expect to be in Surfers Paradise around 30-40 minutes (light traffic). There are a number of transport options from Gold Coast airport to get you to your accommodation, the most common are:

  • Car hire (with providers such as Avis, Hertz, Thrifty, Budget, Europcar & Redspot)
  • Taxi and rideshare pickup
  • Skybus airport shuttle (save by purchasing a return ticket for your Gold Coast to Sydney flight home)
  • The 777 bus which also connects to G:Link trams or 760 bus which connects to Varsity Lakes Train Station.

What's the weather like in Gold Coast compared to Sydney?

Queensland boasts around 300 days of sunshine, so weather is a lot more consistent compared to Sydney’s more distinct seasons and later days - the sun rises a lot earlier (perfect for a morning swim or some yoga on the beach) and sets earlier too. Visitors to the Gold Coast can enjoy a sub-tropical climate with warm summers (and occasional tropical storms), sunny autumn days, mild, dry winters and balmy evenings in spring.
