Best place for dinner: Tapas Café on Soi 11 Sukhumvit. It’s a really small but pleasant and relaxing place to go with your friends or family. The food is great, service is prompt and it’s easy on your pocket.

Must-buy (money no object!): Dine at Vertigo & Moon Bar at the Banyan Tree Hotel. It offers amazing views of the entire city and it’s spectacular at night.

Must-buy gift: A Jim Thompson gift — traditional Thai silk outfits for all. Very fashionable clothing and great quality apparel for both genders.

Insider's tip: Bangkok comes alive when the sun goes down. Get plenty of sleep to enjoy the nightlife.

Survival tip for tourists: Have plenty of cash. It’s not an expensive location but there are many night and day markets — most tourists tend to bust their budget!
