Here’s why draft cocktails are going to be the next big bar trend
If you think no self-respecting cocktail bar would dare serve premixed cocktails, these progressive watering holes might change your mind.

The idea of a cocktail is tightly bound with the ritual of sitting at a bar while a bartender shakes and stirs your drink in real time. But that’s about to change. From a bar that serves Cosmopolitans on tap to a start-up that ships bottled Gimlets to your door, here’s proof that premixed cocktails are gaining ground.
Alchemist Beer Lab, Singapore
The first thing you’ll notice when you step into Alchemist Beer Lab opens in new window is a row of state-of-the-art infusion towers standing tall on an elegant long bar. Inside each tower is an inspired beer cocktail. Lord of the Gin, which combines apple cider with gin, juniper, thyme, mint and citrus rind is a crowd-pleaser. For more adventurous drinkers, go with Fifty Shades of Pink — an unusual (but surprisingly delicious) combination of dry apple cider, pink guava and salted prunes.
Draft Land, Taipei
Taiwanese award-winning mixologist Angus Zou is the mastermind behind this bar opens in new window that serves cocktails on tap, which has claimed a spot on the list of Asia’s 50 Best Bars 2019. “Most customers consider our drinks tasty and reasonably priced, but we still have some criticism that the taste is not as ‘fresh’ as drinks made on-site,” a spokesperson says self-deprecatingly.

This American-style dive bar opens in new window is the more laid-back (and fun) younger sibling to The Everleigh, the award-winning bespoke cocktail bar. At Heartbreaker, you’ll find premixed classics such as the Martini and Old Fashioned, which capture the taste of The Everleigh in single-serving bottles. Come for the jukebox and seedy good times.
Sunday Punch, Singapore
Top-notch cocktails delivered straight to your door: that’s the idea behind Sunday Punch opens in new window, a Singaporean start-up that crafts bottled blends that can hold their own against their bespoke counterparts. Each 500ml bottle offers six to eight servings of cocktails whipped up by some of the city’s best bartenders. Choice picks include the Pandan Gimlet, a local twist on the gin-based classic; and Deep Red, a delicious blend of whiskey, chocolate, pomegranate and mint.
