Checked baggage fees at the airport

It’s cheaper to add checked baggage to your booking online before you arrive at the airport. If you don’t have a pre-purchased checked baggage allowance, you will be charged the fees, displayed below, at the airport check-in desk. There is a fee for the first 15kg of baggage per passenger, then a fee for each additional kilo.

If you have added checked baggage to your booking but arrive with more than your allowance, you'll also be charged for excess baggage at the per-kilo rate, see below.

If you have connecting flights with a domestic and international leg, you’ll be charged at the international per-kilo rate noted below for the whole journey.

Carry-on baggage prices at the airport

Your carry-on baggage allowance is two items weighing no more than 7kg, unless you’ve purchased one of the following:

+7kg Extra Carry-On Baggage (2 items, 14kg weight total, limited availability per flight);
a Flex bundle (2 items, 14kg weight total); or
a Business Class fare (2 items, 14kg weight total).

No single item can weigh more than 10kg. Size restrictions also apply. Learn more about carry-on baggage.

We monitor carry-on baggage at the airport (including the boarding gate).

+7kg Extra Carry-On Baggage

Passengers with a standard 7kg carry-on baggage allowance can purchase +7kg Extra Carry-On Baggage (subject to availability; available on selected routes) for a total carry-on baggage allowance of 14kg across 2 items. It’s cheapest to purchase when you book your flight. If you didn’t add it when you booked we recommend adding it online in Manage booking to ensure availability and avoid excess baggage fees at the airport.

To purchase +7kg Extra Carry-On Baggage at the airport, you can check availability and make payment at the Jetstar service desk.

If you arrive at the boarding gate with extra carry-on baggage above 7kg but below 14kg, you can purchase +7kg Extra Carry-On Baggage provided it hasn’t sold out for your flight. However, this will be at the most expensive price. If it is sold out or your total baggage weight exceeds 14kg or any other size or piece restrictions, an excess carry-on baggage charge will apply, regardless of any checked baggage allowance you may have already purchased. All excess carry-on baggage must be carried as checked baggage in the baggage hold. See the table below for details of charges.
