Our 787 Dreamliner refresh program

From March 2026, we’ll be refreshing our Boeing 787 Dreamliner fleet to provide our customers with more in-flight comfort and choice. While we roll out these enhancements, there will be a transition period, during which you may find yourself on board a refreshed 787 or one of our current aircraft.

Seats

The seating lay-out will be different on the refreshed 787s, with 44 Business Class seats and 281 Economy seats. If your flight is on a revamped aircraft, seats selected in rows 10-13, 56-57 or seats 54B and 54H may change. If you’re affected, we’ll move you to an alternative seat and refund your seat selection fee. This may also mean that some seats won’t be available for selection when you book your flight.

In-flight entertainment

One of the key differences on our refreshed aircraft will be the new, improved in-flight entertainment and Wi-Fi connectivity.

We’re phasing out seatback screens

Our revamped 787s will not have seatback entertainment screens. Instead, you’ll be able to pay to stream Jetstar’s in-flight entertainment on your own device: smartphone, tablet or laptop. And in big news, you’ll also be able to purchase Wi-Fi connectivity on board!

What are the details of the new in-flight entertainment & connectivity product?

We’ll be offering the following options to keep you entertained:
  • Free Zone: Flight map, destination info, Jetstar TV, Spotlight Selection and more
  • Streaming-plus: Stream, browse, access our in-flight entertainment and stay connected with unlimited data
  • Social-plus: Access social media, browse, enjoy our in-flight entertainment and stay connected

How can I make time fly with Wi-Fi onboard?

You can buy your preferred in-flight entertainment and Wi-Fi option on board. Simply follow the instructions in-flight on how to pay and connect. You don't need to download an app prior to boarding. If in-flight entertainment is included in your purchased fare, you'll have access to Wi-Fi on board with our Streaming-plus product.

Will the same movies and shows be available as before?

Yes! You’ll still have access to a wide selection of new release and classic movies, TV episodes, and more—now streamed directly to your device.

In-seat charging

We strongly recommend you charge your device before flying, no matter what kind of aircraft you’re flying on. If you’re on a refreshed 787, your seat will have a USB C charging port, while our current Dreamliners have a USB A charging port. Adapter cables will also be available to buy on board. USB-A outlets can charge up to 15W, while USB-C outlets can charge up to 60W, allowing for laptop charging.

Bring your own headphones

We already encourage our 787 passengers to bring their own headphones to help us reduce landfill. But this is even more important on the refreshed 787s, as we will not be providing headphones on board. So please bring your own headphones if you’re booked to fly on a 787.

Business Class passengers

As with seatback entertainment on our original 787 Dreamliners, Business Class passengers will receive access to in-flight entertainment and Wi-Fi on the refreshed aircraft. But again, you'll need your own device to connect and headphones.

What if I pre-purchased seatback entertainment but I’m on a refurbished 787 with no seatback screens?

If this happens, we'll refund you for any in-flight entertainment you've paid for within 15 business days of your flight, as per our promise in point 8 of our Customer Guarantee. (If you don't receive your refund within the stated timeframe, contact us and we'll provide you with an AUD $50 Jetstar travel voucher, in addition to your refund amount. If you're based in a country using another currency that can be used to make bookings on Jetstar.com, then we will issue you a voucher equivalent to the AUD amount as specified.) You'll be able to purchase entertainment and Wi-Fi streaming access on board the refurbished aircraft.

Will I be advised in advance if my flight is on a revamped 787?

No. All flights are subject to last-minute aircraft changes. So, if you’re flying on a 787, it may only be determined on the day of departure whether it’s an original aircraft or one that’s been revamped.
