Things to do
Dive right in
With direct access to the Great Barrier Reef and world-famous Whitehaven Beach, take to the skies in a helicopter or seaplane charter or opt for a snorkelling or fishing tour opens in new window. Charter a yacht or catamaran and sail on the turquoise waters to nearby islands. Say “I do”
Whether you plan to say “I do” or celebrate any other special milestone, One and Only’s concierge and support staff will go the extra mile. The island itself has various private locations to choose from and picturesque remote islands and shores are just a short helicopter, launch or seaplane ride away. Your dream event is only limited by your imagination.
For such a small island, you’ll be spoilt for choice with more than nine separate dining venues ranging from casual (beach pavilion and pool bar) to chic (Chef’s Table) to classic (Fontaine) – there’s a cuisine and cocktail to whet your appetite and whistle.
One and Only Spa offers respite for all guests, welcoming teens and little ones with speciality treatments. The ultimate ritual is the “ocean massage” – to be enjoyed solo or as a couple, set against the gentle lapping tide. When to go
Hayman Island has a tropical climate and the summer months are especially warm and sultry. July is the coolest month and January the warmest. Enjoy cool breezes from March through October – a light jacket may be required for evenings out. The best time to visit is from April to November.
There is plenty of scenery and activities to enjoy here: catch a glimpse of the Green Tree Frog in January when their breeding season begins. If you’re up for some fishing, the best time for that is in April when the waters are slightly cooler. Whales and dolphins can be spotted from July right up to September.Back to top
