Starting on 21 December 2020, Jetstar Asia (3K) will temporarily be suspending cash transactions on all of our flights. During this time, we will only be able to accept credit card payments on board. Please read on for everything you need to know about this move to a 'cashless cabin'.
Why is Jetstar Asia (3K) temporarily only accepting credit card payment on board their flights?
Suspending cash payments on board all Jetstar Asia flights is one of the wellbeing measures we've taken for our Fly Well program, and is designed to reduce unnecessary shared contact during flights. It also allows for simpler, quicker transactions on board.
What types of payment methods are accepted?
We accept both Visa and Mastercard payments. We are not able to accept debit cards, EFTPOS payments or other pre-paid travel cards.
What currency will my credit card be charged in?
On all 3K flights you will be charged in SGD. No GST is applied to purchases on international flights.
What happens if I don’t own a credit card and want to make a purchase on board?
Suspending cash payments on board all Jetstar Asia flights is one of the wellbeing measures we've taken for our Fly Well program, and is designed to reduce unnecessary shared contact during flights.
However, we offer several payment methods if you pre-purchase your meal:
- If you bought a Plus or Max bundle with your booking, your meal is automatically included
- If you have a starter fare, you can either pre-purchase the meal you'd like for your flight or, for more flexibility, pre-purchase an in-flight voucher at a discounted rate, which you can then redeem for the meal of your choice on board.
You can do this when you book on jetstar.com, or before you fly via 'Manage Booking', where meals can be added to existing bookings up to 24 hours before departure.
How can I identify if I have an in-flight voucher included in my booking?
If you've pre-purchased a $10 or $20 in-flight voucher, you’ll see it noted on your itinerary, tax invoice and boarding pass. You can identify it on these documents by the SSR (Special Service Request) codes V10S ($10 in-flight voucher) and/or V20S ($20 in-flight voucher).
Can I purchase an in-flight voucher in Manage Booking?
Yes, you can.
Will I be charged a fee or surcharge to use my credit card on board?
Jetstar will not charge any credit card fees or surcharges on transactions you make on board.
Is there a limit to how many transactions I can make on board?
You can purchase any item from our menu. There’s no minimum spend per transaction. For security reasons, our cabin crew may ask for a photo ID check when transactions are over a certain amount. There is an individual limit of S$200 per customer.
What items will I be able to purchase on board?
For the time being, we’ve reduced our in-flight food and beverage offering. Snack bags with drinks, snacks, or Instant Noodles are available for purchase on board.
