Cabin baggage limits
Don’t let your carry-on baggage delay your departure
To avoid delays when flying, here are a few simple carry-on baggage requirements we ask our customers to follow: For our Starter Fares (including Plus and Max bundles) you are permitted one main item of carry-on baggage and one other small item, with a total combined weight of up to 10kg. For Jetstar Pacific flights (BL) passengers, the total combined weight is 7kg. If you bring too many carry-on items to the departure gate, staff will insist that they be checked in and charges may apply.
Business Class passengers are permitted one additional main item (2 main items in total) of carry-on baggage, as long as each main item does not exceed 10kg, with a total combined carry-on baggage weight of up to 20kg.

Any piece of baggage that doesn’t fit with the requirements above will need to be checked-in and charges may apply.
The additional small item you bring on board could be:
- a handbag,
- pocket book or purse, coat,
- umbrella,
- or for international flights, approved duty free goods.
Each piece must be able to fit under the seat in front of you, or in an enclosed storage compartment in the cabin of the aircraft.
If you’re travelling with an infant, you can carry-on infant food and items required for infants in-flight as well. If a seat has been booked for an infant, you can also bring an approved infant car seat on board. These items do not count towards your carry-on baggage allowance. Please contact Jetstar Reservations so we can make note of this on your booking. Infants do not have a baggage allowance if they do not occupy a paid seat
Restrictions on carry-on baggage
Government and airport authorities set out restrictions on the items that can be included in your carry-on baggage or on your persons during a flight. It is your responsibility to check before departure for any restrictions applicable to your specific flights. These items must be packed in your checked baggage. If any of these items are detected in your carry-on baggage or you’re found to be carrying them, they will be removed and will not be returned.
The Australian Department of Infrastructure and Transport provide a list of restricted items for carriage on domestic and international flights to and from Australia.
Passengers carrying hypodermic needles will need to declare them at the screening point, with, where possible, documentation or identification confirming their medical condition. Medication should have a professionally printed label identifying the medication, or a manufacturer’s name or pharmaceutical label affixed.
Please contact Jetstar if you have a question.
Carriage of liquids, aerosols and gels on international service and domestic flights departing from International Terminals:
Government limits apply to the amount of liquids, aerosols and gels that can be taken through airport security screening points in Australia and other international ports. For more information visit the Australian Government’s Travel Secure website, the Singapore Airport website or refer to the airport or applicable government regulations of the country you are travelling from.
