Melbourne destination guide
So what makes Melbourne so great?
If you’re heading to Melbourne for the first time, we’d love to give you the inside word on the city’s finest – after all, it’s Jetstar’s hometown, so we’re keen to show you the best. You’ve probably heard about Melbourne’s famous food scene, but this food critic’s guide is the ultimate in where to eat in Melbourne, from world-renowned fine dining to Greek and Vietnamese street food. The city is equally famed for its shopping, so we can show you where to find glossy malls, historic markets and groovy, bohemian shopping strips. And while Melbourne is a massive cultural drawcard, full of galleries and cabaret, it’s also a super family-friendly destination – let us show you some free activities the whole clan can enjoy.
Finding it all too tempting? Don’t worry, there’s a bunch of great things to do if you’re on a budget, including immersing yourself in the city’s street art, cycling Merri Creek and spotting a penguin or two as the sun sets over St Kilda. Day-tripping from Melbourne is equally enjoyable – if you find some cheap flight tickets to Melbourne (Avalon) it's easy to spend the day exploring Geelong (the state’s second largest city) with its scenic waterfront, or from Melbourne (Tullamarine) head to the hills and roam the vineyards of the Yarra Valley.
