Baggage information

Getting ready for your trip? Here's everything you need to know about baggage allowances, fees, and what items are permitted on board. Remember - our most popular fares don’t include checked baggage so we recommend adding baggage when you make your booking to get the best price. If not, you might encounter excess baggage fees when you check in at the airport. Oversized items count towards your total checked baggage allowance, so make sure you purchase enough checked baggage. Frequently Asked Questions

Can I bring a car seat on board?

When flying with Jetstar Airways (JQ) or Jetstar Asia (3K), if you’ve purchased a seat for your infant or young child, you can bring an approved car seat for them to sit in. A car seat doesn’t count towards your carry-on baggage allowance. You must contact us by phone to add a car seat to your booking. Visit Bringing a car seat on board for more information. Car seats cannot be used on board Jetstar Japan (GK) flights.

Can my pet fly with Jetstar?

Jetstar is not equipped to transport your pets, but you can organise pet travel with Qantas freight.

What's an oversized item?

Any bag or item with a single side longer than one metre (1000mm, 39in), including wheels, handles and packaging is an oversized item. Visit Oversized baggage for more information.

Does Jetstar transfer baggage?

Please be aware that we don’t transfer your baggage between flights. However, there are some exceptions:

  • Connecting international Jetstar flights and flights with our partner airlines, where both international flights were purchased on the same booking
  • Domestic flights in Japan connecting to international flights operated by American Airlines, Air Canada, Delta Air Lines, Japan Airlines and Qantas, where both flights were purchased on the same booking

Visit Baggage transfers and flight connections for more information.
