The Busselton and Margaret River region ticks a lot of boxes. Its heavenly beaches range from wild surf breaks to tranquil family favourites. Natural attractions like karri forests and ancient caves add to its outdoorsy appeal, while its famous wineries and tasty local produce live up to the hype.
Like the song says, heaven is a place on earth.
Grab, your towel, bathers and sunscreen, and dive into southwest WA's heavenly beaches! Surfers (and spectators) have a mighty 75 breaks to choose from, with evocative names like Bombie, Gallows, Super Tubes and Boneyards. For more laidback, family-friendly conditions, Meelup Beach, Bunker Bay and Busselton Foreshore (to name a few) deliver. Think silken white sand and tranquil turquoise water perfect for floating, swimming and stand-up paddle-boarding. Dog-friendly beaches, snorkelling spots and seasonal whale playgrounds add to the fun.

As if the Busselton-Margaret River coastline wasn't glorious enough already, whale-watching season takes it to the next level. Between June and December, some 35,000 humpback, southern right, minke and blue whales ply the nearby waters on their annual migration from Antarctica. It's an unforgettable sight, best experienced up close on a local whale-watching tour. It's also possible to see them from the shore (Sugarloaf Rock is a good spot) or from the top of a lighthouse.
It’s always wine o'clock in Margaret River.
Bottoms up! Whether you're a wine afficionado or a casual sipper, you're in the right place – Margaret River's 90+ cellar doors cater to all tastes and budgets. This world-renowned wine region is particularly celebrated for its chardonnay and cabernet sauvignon, but you'll come across more varietals than you can poke a glass at. Follow a self-guided wine trail, join a tour, enlist in a wine education session, and delve into the region's exciting biodynamic, organic wine scene. As a bonus, many wineries have fabulous on-site restaurants.
