Refunds on fare and Jetstar add-ons (excluding hotels, activities, insurance and car hire)

Bookings made on or after 12 October 2017

  • Refunds for cancellations made within the Change Deadline will be in Jetstar Credit Vouchers and not in cash. Please see Jetstar Voucher section below for voucher rules.
  • A Jetstar Credit Voucher is not available if you have changed to a Starter fare with a Max bundle after making your original booking, or if you request a voucher after the Change Deadline
  • Ticketless bookings made via the GDS (Global Distribution System) channel will receive refunds for cancellations in cash only at a fee per passenger, per booking, and must be requested through Jetstar. For current fees, see Fees and charges.
  • GDS bookings issued on an airline partner ticket will need to be referred to that partner airline to process the refund. GDS bookings issued on a Hahn ticket can request a refund via BSP link.
  • Add-ons (excluding hotels, activities, insurance and car hire) can only be refunded when requested as part of a refund of the applicable flight. For Jetstar Holidays hotels, activities and car hire bookings in Australia, New Zealand, Singapore or Japan see Holidays Terms and Conditions.
  • For cancellation of Points Plus Pay - Flights bookings initiated on Qantas.com where the use of Qantas Points (Jetstar Points Plus Pay) checkbox was selected, under Max fare rules, the refundable portion of Qantas Points will be re-credited to the Member’s account and the refundable portion of any money payments will be refunded to the original form of payment used, less the refund fee.
  • For cancellation of all other Points Plus Pay - Flights bookings, under Max fare rules, the value of the booking including any Add-ons will be credited to a Jetstar Voucher.
  • You may be entitled to a refund or alternative flight under law or our Conditions of Carriage, in which case no fees apply.

Missed check-in deadline or failure to board within the required time

  • Permitted changes or refunds can be made only if requested by the Change Deadline and upon payment of any applicable Fare Difference or fee.

Time/Date change

  • Permitted upon payment of the applicable Fare Difference within the Change Deadline.
    No fees are payable where you are entitled to a remedy by law or under our Conditions of Carriage.

Origin/Destination changes

  • Permitted upon payment of the applicable Fare Difference within the Change Deadline.

Passenger Name changes

  • Free within the Change Deadline.
  • Name changes can be made for an individual passenger on a booking, but must apply to all flights for that passenger.
  • Name changes are not permitted for Qantas Frequent Flyer Points Plus Pay - Flight bookings on Jetstar or JAL Mileage bookings.

Bookings made on or after 12 October 2017

  • Change Deadline: Permitted changes must be made before the original scheduled flight opens for check-in at the airport. Airport check in opening times are available on your Jetstar itinerary or see Checking in for details.
  • Time and date changes can be made via Jetstar.com before airport check-in opens for your flight if original scheduled flight booking was made via Jetstar.com or Jetstar Call Centre. All changes can be made via Jetstar Call Centre or Jetstar counter at the airport and additional service fees apply, (see Fees and charges for details), if your booking was not originally made via the Jetstar Call Centre or Jetstar counter at the airport.
  • Fees are subject to change and are applied at the rate current at time of change. For current fees see Fees and charges.
  • Credit Vouchers must be requested through Jetstar.com, the Jetstar App or the Jetstar Call Centre before the Change Deadline.

Jetstar Voucher

  • Vouchers are available per passenger, per flight provided the customer cancels the affected flight before the Change Deadline. Vouchers will be sent by email within 24 hours.
  • The voucher can only be used for a new booking that includes the original travelling passenger.
  • This voucher can be redeemed towards payment for multiple Jetstar flight bookings until the value of this Voucher is exhausted up until the Expiry Date of this Voucher. Note. From 10 May 2023, if you have an existing voucher that is single use, it will change to multi-use.

Change Fees and Fare Difference

  • Change Fees do not apply for permitted changes for a Starter fare with Max bundle.
  • Fare Difference applies per passenger, per flight. Your new fare will be at least the amount of the fare you originally booked and may be more. You cannot change to a lower fare. No refund will be applicable if a lower fare is available.
  • Fare Difference is the difference (if any) between the fare or fare with bundle originally booked and an available fare or fare with bundle on the date of change which is at least the same fare or, if not available, the next available higher fare. The Fare Difference may be substantial.

Permitted fare/bundle changes

  • Starter fares with Max bundle cannot be changed to a Starter fare, Starter fare with Plus bundle or a Starter fare with Flex bundle.

Re-booking

  • You must re-book onto an available Jetstar flight. Jetstar does not hold open-dated bookings.

Currency

  • All amounts will be charged in the currency you made your original booking.

Earning Qantas Points and Status Credits, JAL Mileage and Emirates Skywards Miles

  • Qantas Points and Status Credits
    • Starter fare with Max bundle passengers are eligible to earn Qantas Points and Status Credits, subject to the Qantas Frequent Flyer Terms and Conditions.
    • Qantas Points and Status Credits are earned at the Qantas Flexible Economy Rate.
  • JAL Mileage
    • Passengers travelling on Jetstar Japan (GK) flights may opt to earn JAL Mileage at a 30% accumulation rate, subject to the JAL Mileage Terms and Conditions.
    • JAL Mileage earn is only available on Jetstar Japan (GK) flights.
  • Emirates Skywards Miles
    • Passengers travelling on Jetstar (international flights only), Jetstar Asia (3K) and Jetstar Japan (GK) flights may opt to earn Skywards Miles at the Emirates Economy rate, subject to the Emirates Skywards Terms and Conditions.

Qantas Frequent Flyer Classic Upgrade Rewards

  • Starter fare with Max bundle fare is not eligible for Classic Upgrade Rewards.

Qantas Frequent Flyer Points Plus Pay - Flights on Jetstar and JAL Mileage - Additional Payments

  • All changes or additions to your booking must be paid with money and cannot be redeemed with Qantas Points.
    Changes or additions will be calculated by using the original monetary value and currency of the fare (as determined by Jetstar) and as per the conditions listed in the Change Fee and Fare Difference section of these fare rules.
