Is checked baggage allowance included in my fare?

That depends on what kind of fare or bundle you’ve purchased – see below for details. Even if baggage is included, you have the option of buying extra baggage allowance if you need it. The cheapest and fastest way to buy checked baggage is when you book. If you’ve already made a booking, you can add baggage at Manage booking. Baggage added after your initial booking will be charged at a higher rate. The below inclusions are for fares and bundles booked directly with Jetstar. For bookings made through a Travel Agent or another airline, please check Manage Booking for your baggage allowance or contact them for assistance as you may have different inclusions in your fare or bundle type.

Starter fares:

  • No checked baggage allowance included.
  • You can purchase a 15kg*, 20kg, 25kg, 30kg, 35kg or 40kg baggage allowance.

Starter Plus bundle:

  • 20kg checked baggage allowance (Jetstar Japan (GK) domestic flights only: For bookings made before 27 May 2024, the included checked baggage allowance is 10kg)
  • You can purchase up to an additional 20kg if you need it. (Jetstar Japan (GK) domestic flights only: For bookings made before 27 May 2024, up to 30kg)

Starter Max bundle^:

  • 30kg checked baggage allowance.
  • You can purchase up to an additional 10kg if you need it.
^ Starter Max bundles are no longer available to purchase directly with Jetstar from 27 May 2024.

Flex bundle

  • No checked baggage allowance included.
  • You can purchase a 15kg*, 20kg, 25kg, 30kg, 35kg or 40kg baggage allowance.

Flex Plus bundle:

  • 20kg checked baggage allowance.
  • You can purchase up to an additional 20kg if you need it.

Business fare and Business fare with Max bundles:

  • 30kg of checked baggage allowance.
  • You can buy up to an additional 10kg of checked baggage allowance.
*15kg checked baggage allowance is only available for domestic flights on Jetstar Airways (JQ) and Jetstar Japan (GK). 15kg is not available on international flights or domestic flights connecting to an international flight.
Please note: If your itinerary includes Jetstar Airways (JQ) or Jetstar Asia (3K) flights connecting to Jetstar Japan (GK) domestic flights, the higher baggage allowance will be applied to all flights in the itinerary. There are some things you may be able to bring as checked baggage for free. If you’re travelling with an infant or young child, you may bring a pram, portable cot, high chair and approved car seat. You may bring a wheelchair if you need one. (Size and weight restrictions apply.) Baggage allowance weights apply per passenger with a seat, per flight. Your baggage allowance is given by combined weight, not by number of bags. As long as your bags have a combined weight within your allowance, you can bring as many as you like. The maximum checked baggage allowance per person is 40kgs and no single bag can weigh more than 32kg. Please note that size and weight limits apply for checked baggage.
