Jetstar Asia Ceasing Operations from 31 July 2025 - Travel Agent FAQs

Is Jetstar Asia bankrupt?

  • No, with the support of the Qantas Group, Jetstar Asia will continue to meet its obligations to employees, suppliers and customers as we work towards closure.
  • This is a managed exit, and Jetstar Asia remains solvent.

What’s going to happen to Jetstar in Australia, New Zealand and Japan?

  • This decision does not impact Jetstar Airways (JQ) in Australia and New Zealand or our Jetstar Japan (GK) operation.

Will Jetstar Airways take over any of the Jetstar Asia routes?

  • Jetstar Airways will continue to operate services from Melbourne to Singapore, Perth to Singapore and between Singapore and Denpasar. We have no other network announcements to make today.

What options will be offered for bookings scheduled to depart on or after 01 August 2025?

  • Customers can choose a full refund or to bring forward their departure to 31 July or earlier, subject to availability.

How will customers and travel agents be notified about flight cancellations and refund or reaccommodating options?

  • Customers and travel agents will be notified by Jetstar on the email/s provided to Jetstar in the booking.

My customers have a 3K booking departing before 31 July. How do I know if it’s operating?

My customer’s Jetstar Asia flight was connecting to Jetstar Airways or Jetstar Japan.

  • If your customer’s Jetstar Asia flight has a connection booked on Jetstar Japan or Jetstar Airways, we are reviewing options to reaccommodate onto another service. If available, we’ll contact you with details. Monetary refund is also available.

What if my customers no longer want to fly?

  • We have increased flexibility for our customers during our ramp down of operations including refund.
  • Log into Manage booking to see the options available to them.

I have a Jetstar voucher – can I get a refund?

  • Yes, if you have a current Jetstar voucher related to travel with Jetstar Asia (3K) with an available balance, you’ll be contacted in August to arrange converting your remaining voucher balance to a monetary refund.
  • Vouchers that expired prior to 11 June 2025 are not eligible for refunds
    Customers with vouchers issued for bookings made via Travel Agents or other third parties:
  • Where your travel agent has provided us with your contact information, we will email you directly via the address provided to us with instructions about how to claim your refund.
  • Where we do not have your email address, we will contact your travel agent to request they coordinate your refund.
    Customers with vouchers for bookings made on Jetstar.com or via the Jetstar Contact Centre:
  • For bookings made within the last 18 months, where possible, we will automatically refund you to the card used for payment on your booking. We will notify you directly via the email address listed as a contact on your booking or voucher when this is completed.
  • For all other bookings, we will contact you via the email address provided as a contact in your booking with further instructions. We will never ask you to provide us your credit card information.
  • For bookings where separate vouchers were issued for each passenger, we will notify the email address listed as the booking contact to coordinate the refunds for each voucher.

What will happen to customers connecting between Jetstar Asia and an interline partner?

  • We will notify impacted customers about any changes to Jetstar Asia flight/s, and for any connecting customers our partner airlines will be in contact about alternative arrangements where required.

How long will refunds take to be processed?

  • Due to a high volume of refunds, please allow up to 15 business days for refunds to be processed.

How do I receive a refund for a Jetstar Asia fare ticketed on a Qantas 081 ticket?

  • Qantas have issued a commercial policy, permitting rebook, refund and credits using authority number 783148. Find the full commercial policy on Qantas Agency Connect website or click here.

How do I receive a refund for a Jetstar Asia fare ticketed on a Hahn Air or other airline ticket stock?

  • The ticketing agent can contact Hahn Air or the ticketing airline, to request an authority code to refund the ticket through BSP.

I’m a travel agent with a Jetstar pre-paid account. Will my account be refunded?

  • You can choose for your prepaid account to be refunded, or the balance will be transferred to a Jetstar Airways bank account for use on future Jetstar Airways (JQ) and Jetstar Japan (GK) bookings.

How do I request a refund for my Jetstar Asia pre-paid account?

  • Agents with a prepaid account will be contacted on 11 June with instruction of how to claim a refund. This will require an invoice to be sent to 3k_prepaidagent@jetstar.com.

Jetstar Asia pay me commission on my bookings. Will that continue?

  • If you are a travel agent who has opted in to receive gross fare commission (only eligible in select points of sale), it will continue to be paid on eligible bookings flown up to 31 July 2025.

What will happen to my group bookings on Jetstar Asia?

  • Group bookings will be subject to the same refund and reaccommodation options, subject to availability.
