You'll pass forest greenery and striking dolerite towers on your way. You can reach the pinnacle observation shelter at the summit in an hour or two, depending on your speed. Go exploring the Salamanca scene, where beautiful Georgian sandstone warehouses are home to galleries, theatres, bars and boutiques. Breezy outdoor cafés, designer hotels and the amazing Salamanca Arts Centre line Salamanca Place, opposite the water. Every Saturday, over 300 stall-holders descend on the area for the famous Salamanca Market, where you can stock up on local fresh produce and handmade artisan pieces in a vibrant carnival atmosphere.
Museum of Old and New Art (Mona), Hobart.
Hop on a camouflaged ferry, order a glass of champagne and speed over in style to Mona (Museum of Old and New Art) in Berriedale. It's an easy 25-minute ride to what looks like a mirrored box on a hill. Mona houses the private collection of founder, David Walsh, which spans from ancient Egyption pieces to digital installations. You enter on the top level and descend down underground into a fascinating contemporary gallery with a wicked sense of humour. There's a brewery, winery, café and fine-dining restaurant on-site, as well as stylish accommodation.
